WholeLife Matrix: Health & Well Being
“If you maintain a healthy diet, or at least are smart about your food choices, you’ll still see the pounds come off.

People who apply healthy consistent habits maintain a healthy body and weight. They know the importance of having an effective routine. By adopting healthy habits, you can also create and maintain a healthy lifestyle. But to do so, it is important to know what areas to focus on. In this article, we provide some tips.
• Eat Small Portions
Opt for eating six small meals a day rather than three larger meals. One of the benefits of this is that it makes you less tempted to eat supersized portions. Also, when we do not eat for longer than three hours, the stress hormone cortisol rises, which tells the body to store fat in the stomach area. People who skip meals have highest cortisol levels.
• Stick to Eating the Same Foods that Work
The healthiest eaters limit their meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They usually have three to four menu choices for each meal that they always choose from. This helps to stabilize the number of calories that are consumed and prevents overeating.
• Do Not Keep Tempting Food Around
Healthy eaters do not have unhealthy foods or foods that may temp them to overeat in their home. This may include cakes, chips, cookies, crackers and more. By eating healthy, your craving for these types of foods actually stops. Also, if you do buy these types of foods as an occasional treat, it is best to buy portioned containers that help to manage your calories. For example, instead of buying a gallon of ice cream, opt for portioned ice cream snacks.
• Eat the Last Meal at a Reasonable Hour
Successful eaters finish their last meal at a reasonable hour and usually go to sleep with a light stomach. As a result, they wake up feeling thin, and well rested because their body was able to focus on repairing cells instead of on digesting food in the stomach, which causes restless sleep. Not eating a lot before sleep also maintains the body’s fat burning state.
• Know What Foods to Choose at Restaurants
Eating healthy includes knowing how to eat well, not just at home, but also at parties or restaurants. By becoming familiar with healthy alternatives at restaurants such as salads, you can ensure that your eating habits remain healthy outside the home.
• Eat Your Favorite Foods in Moderation
Healthy eaters do not cut out any foods that they love because they know that this would only set them up for failure. They eat their favorite foods in moderation and savor the times when they eat them.
