WholeLife Matrix: Health & Well Being
“Without passion you don’t have energy, without energy you have nothing.”
— Donald Trump
Do you often feel like you don’t have as much energy as you should or as much energy as you once did? Do you experience the afternoon slump? Feeling a lack of energy can affect your excitement about life, your motivation, concentration, and how much you achieve in your day. Fortunately, there are steps that you can take to increase your energy level. In this article, we offer some tips to increase your get-up-and-go so that you can do the things you love and get the results you want in your life.
1. Get Enough Sleep and Take Naps
To start the day off right with maximum energy, it is important to get the amount of sleep that your body needs. Not getting enough sleep will impact your mood, focus, and the quality of your work. It has also been found that taking a power nap during the day can help to clear your mind for the rest of the day and increase your memory retention and well-being.
2. Reduce Stress
Stress, such as the anxiety caused by fear or worry, can take up a lot of your energy and leave your mind and body feeling exhausted. Therefore, it is best to reduce your stress as much as possible at work and at home.
3. Take a Power Walk
Walking each day will help to lift your energy and spirits. Walking is the easiest form of exercise that anyone can do. Even if you are working at an office, you can walk around the block during your break. Just a short ten minute walk a day can improve your health and also help you to shed pounds. Other forms of exercise also increase energy.
4. Eat Breakfast
By not skipping breakfast, you will have more energy during the day and you will feel better. It is also important to eat the other meals of the day because it has been found that missing any meal can lead to feelings of exhaustion.
5. Consume less Sugar and Alcohol
Drinking alcohol can interfere with deep sleep, so it is best not to drink alcohol close to bedtime. Eating foods that contain sugar will initially cause your energy to spike, but afterwards your energy level will fall. So, to keep your energy level at a stable constant, it is good to reduce the amount of sweet foods that you consume.
6. Increase Water Intake
Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and feelings of tiredness. It is especially important to drink plenty of water after exercise and on hot days. Often, hikers make the mistake of not taking enough water with them to drink, even when they hike on hot days. So make sure to always carry enough water with you whenever you go somewhere. This also includes instances such as going to an office for an interview or for taking a test.
