How to Create a Successful Sales Page

WholeLife Matrix: Financial Viability – Marketing / Sales

“To me, job titles don’t matter. Everyone is in sales. It’s the only way we stay in business.”

With an effective sales page, you can make a lot more sales.  The way that your sales page is put together can have a major impact on your conversion rate.  Having a good design with professional looking pictures is just one part of designing a good sales page.  Here are some tips:

Who is your target market?  The more specifically you identify your target market, the more precisely you will be able to market your product. For example, your target market may be women over 40 with a certain income level who are interested in healthy foods.  Once you know who your target market is, you can tailor the message on your sales page to that market, which increases conversion rates.

The headline of the sales page is very important because it is usually the first thing that people see and it can determine whether or not people will continue reading.  So the headline should be clear and offer a benefit to your target market.  To get an idea of effective headlines to use, you can do an internet search for effective headlines.  You should also use font that is easy to read such as Verdana or Arial in your headline and throughout your sales page.  The type size should also be large enough for comfortable reading, such as 12-14pt.

Use attractive pictures on your sales page that are related to what you are selling. You should also include an engaging video to capture the viewer’s interest and explain your product. Include a call to action at the end of the video.

The “Buy” button on the sales page should be a very large button that attracts attention on the page.  The “Belcher Button”, designed by Perry Belcher, is a yellow and orange button that has been found to be effective.

For courses, $497 is a popular price used by marketers.  It has also been found that prices that end in the number 9 or the number 5 after the decimal point, increase conversions.  This is why you often see products in stores that sell for $29.95 or $29.99.

It is important to include testimonials on your sales page because they increase customer trust and confidence, which will motivate people to buy.  Inspirational stories from previous customers will convince others to take action.  Another way to increase customer trust is to include trusted logos such as any media sites you may have been featured on, a 30-day money back guarantee seal, and credit card payment images.

The text on your page should explain how the customer will benefit from your product.  What problem will it solve for them?  Also let people know who the product is for and who it is not for.  Answer any objections the buyer may have.

Include a limited time offer in your message and let people know the amount of the product that you have left.  This creates a sense of scarcity and urgency to buy, which can convert people who may be on the fence.  You can also offer to add a bonus for a limited time or offer coupons that will expire after a certain amount of time.

After publishing your sales page, test it to see how it works and ask people for feedback.  You may find some areas where improvements can be made.
