Using Video for Lead Generation

WholeLife Matrix: Financial Viability / Marketing & Sales

“YouTube is addicting…I click on a music video, next thing you know I am watching how to make ice cream.” ― so-relatable.tumbler.com

Videos are considered to have about a 62 percent effectiveness rating for business to business marketing tactics. It is no surprise that videos are among the top marketing tactics since they provide a lot of value. They can be very educational, informative, and entertaining.

As the saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Videos include many pictures so they can often tell a story more effectively than just words alone. They can provide clear step-by-step tutorials for how to do something, which may be harder to understand with just words and screenshots. So, videos are often used for online courses and demonstrations and they can be a great way of showing how a product works. Another benefit is that you can easily rewind to a spot in the video that you want to review. Since videos offer all of these benefits, it has been found that people are about a dozen times more likely to watch a video than to just read text.

One popular way of using videos is for sales pages. Videos help to capture the interest of the visitor so that they stay on your page. Once people have watched your video and understand what you are offering, they will be more likely to look at your text. This helps to increase the conversion rate for the number of people that opt in to what you are offering.

When using promotional videos on sales pages, at the end of the video provide a call to action to the viewer to lead them to what you ultimately want them to do. This may be downloading an e-book, purchasing a product, signing up for an event, etc. For example if your video is about sales tips, at the end of your video you might have a link that people can click on that says “Download our Complete Sales Tips.”

Another example of using video is for sharing webinar content. Webinars are popular because they provide a lot of quality content. They are rated as the most effective business to business marketing tactic. You can record your webinar so that people can later download it in exchange for providing their email address. On your sales page, it is important to describe the value that people will receive from downloading the webinar. Make your sales page easy to read by using bullet points.

For demo videos and interactive product videos, focus on offering some free content first. Use videos to learn about your target market. You can ask them questions such as what their challenges are or what type of technology they use by putting surveys or polls into your videos. People like content that provides interaction and this will increase the engagement of your content.
