Losing weight and maintaining fitness is a goal for many people.  In addition to eating healthy foods, regular exercise is important for losing and keeping weight off. It is not necessary to do strenuous exercise. It is best to do exercise that you enjoy and can do on a regular basis. In this article, we offer some ideas.

1. Walking or Jogging
Just taking a short walk once or twice a day can help to keep you healthy and keep weight off.  A jog in the morning is also a great way to start the day.  If you have a dog, walking your pet regularly can help you to stay in shape. Network with friends to have someone to walk or jog with each day. Friends can help to keep you motivated and on track to achieve your goals.  You can also find walking or jogging groups.

2. Yoga
Yoga is a great type of exercise that you can easily do in many places such as at home or on the beach.  It improves flexibility, balance and focus. 

3. Dancing
Dancing is a fun form of exercise that can help you to burn calories. You can dance at home to your favorite music, which also helps to improve your mood. There are also many dance classes that you can take to learn various forms of dancing.

4. Cleaning the House
You may not think of cleaning the house as exercise but it can move many parts of your body and burn calories. As an added bonus, you will have a clean house!

5. Lifting Weights
You can go to the gym to lift weights or have some weights around the house that you can use on a regular basis. Lifting weights helps to build muscle mass which in turn also helps to burn calories and to keep you fit.

6. Bike Riding
Riding your bicycle is a fun way to stay in shape and build the muscle in your legs. Whenever you can, ride your bicycle instead of riding in a car. Make sure that you ride in a safe place. There are often paths and trails available for bike riders.

7. Hiking
Hiking is a great way to get exercise while also exploring beautiful places in nature. There are many groups that you can join to go hiking with such as the Sierra Club or a meetup group in your area.

In addition to the mentioned activities, it is fun to try new and seasonal sports. For example, in the winter time, you might try ice skating or skiing. The more activities you try, the more activities you will find that you like to do which will help you to stay in shape and live a healthy lifestyle.
